I have complete The Screwtape Letters again, the classic work from C.S. Lewis in which a senior devil schools an inexperienced demon in the fine art of tempting and subverting humans. But despite Screwtape's best council, Wormwood fails to trash the life and eternity of his 'patient.' This book cleverly illustrates many devices of Satan, while demonstrating how the forces of darkness and deception are in subjection to the God of Heaven. This recommended book reminds the reader of the spiritual warfare that is happening all around us.

The Argyle High School Marching Band will be competing at the state level again, having been ranked as the number one Class 3A band here in the North Texas area. This will be our 4th journey to San Antonio with the Argyle Band for this purpose; we made the trip just two years ago when Andrew was in High School and playing trombone in the band. Now Aaron is the senior, Austin is a sophomore and Aimee is a freshman in this great band. The Band has won state twice in Div 2A; we now aim to take the Div 3A title!

Life's Mountains, a book written by gbm survivor Cheryl L. Broyles, as been added to my Recommended Reading List. Cheryl's amazing story will lift your heart and bath you in hope. Her emotions jump right off of the pages into your soul. I have yet to see another autobiography that expresses such transparency in victory and defeats. You are going to laugh and cry.

Bill Havens and I held our bi-annual missions conference today at Good Eats in Denton. Bill and family have just returned from three years of service in Russia and are planning to return overseas - this time to Austria. His future outreach activities will take him to Romania, and I hope to Moldova during the Summer of 2009. A mere 90 minutes with Bill is not enough to catch up on the happenings in Russia. It is just a drop in the bucket.
Conversing with this brother raised my own desire to return to Moldova. Checkout the news from January 2007 and the associated photos from my first trip. Excursion #2 was equally blessed and meaningful, yet totally different. Maybe you should come with me next trip. There are more reasons to take a risk in serving Jesus than to stay at home and not venture out.

The Christian rock band dc Talk and the Voice of the Martyrs have collaborated to produce the powerful volume Jesus Freaks. This book is similar to Foxe's Book of Martyrs. Both works are on my recommended reading list and are difficult to read because of the graphic violence described therein. I pray for my persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. I need to find a way to augment my prayers with action.

The Legacy Brain Foundation's 2nd annual Stars Come Out silent auction event was both well attended and enjoyed by all. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide support to persons with a brain tumor or spinal cord tumor. It was my great honor to join the many participants for an evening of encouragement, hope and provision for a worthy cause.

Lunch with John and Daughter-in-law Rachel. This is a study in support - that undergirding that greatly benefits brain tumor people and in fact all who are faced with a catastrophic illness.
