CBC Results

Here is a summary of periodic Complete Blood Count (CBC) lab tests performed initially weekly, then once every two weeks, reduced to once per month beginning in October 2004, then once every two months (May 2005). The return of the tumor in June 2007 reinstated weekly CBC measurements. The ensuing chemo and defeat of the recurrent tumor, as demonstrated by three consecutively clean monthly MRIs, restored bi-monthly scans and cbc measurements as of 12 November 2007. Monthly MRIs and weekly CBC draws were restarted in March 2009 in honor of the second recurrent tumor. The frequency of these scans returned to bi-monthly in June 2009. I entered chemo maintenance mode in August 2009, which ended up being just one more round of Carboplatin and Avastin. The tumor returned in April 2010 and was immediately destroyed. It then made its 4th unwelcome appearence in November 2010, and again was eliminated by Carboplatin and Avastin. But this time, the follow up was a new cocktail: Carboplatin, CPT-11 and Avastin. Yet another tumor tried its hand beginning in June 2011 and CPT-11, BCNU and Avastin are being used to send it back to the pit from which it came.

The four parameters listed here are: White Blood Count (WBC), Red Blood Count (RBC), Hemoglobin (HGB) and Platelets (PLT).
