July has been very busy, and the month concludes with my Trans Am participating in a car show in Flower Mound, one of many such events sponsored by CARS.

Favorable CBC results were received today from last Friday’s visit to the oncologist. The analysis machine was not functional when I was there on the 21st, so I could not get results ‘real time.’

Discovered a positive online resource for people with a gbm. Take a moment to visit YASG

Today I received the radiologist's report for the MRI conducted Wednesday. The summary reads: "Comparison with most recent MRI brain without and with contrast, 05/22/06, demonstrates stable appearance with no interval localizing pathology." Translation: my 17th bi-monthly scan is clean, just like all of the other post-op MRIs. I will began the 16th round of 14/14 Temodar chemotherapy in two weeks. My 18th MRI will take place in late September. It is great to know that I have not been in this alone - thanks are extended to everyone who has been praying.

Finished the 15th round of chemo tonight. My next MRI will be Wednesday, 19 July 2006 (tomorrow). I usually take off two weeks from Temodar before an MRI, but this round began one week late, and I took off three weeks between half cycles, rather than the usual two weeks. These delays were to allow my system to more fully recover from fatigue and also because I stopped taking the Kytril to eliminate constipation side effects.

I have had 16 clean scans since surgery 29 months ago. Even with this favorable track record, I always have a bit of anxiety with each scan and the follow on oncologist appointment. I'd appreciate your prayers! Many thanks to everyone who has been praying and then paging me, entering a Zip Code or "777" at the beep. It is quite encouraging to be made aware of your prayers.

Kathy, Aric and I are in Arkansas to hear Andrew's and Aaron's band performances. They have been at camp at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia all week. Andrew is also in a Jazz band, which we were fortunate to hear on Friday. The concerts began today at 2pm. This gave mom, dad and Aric an opportunity to do a little sightseeing. We began at Pirate's Cove Adventure Miniature Golf course. Pirate's Cove definitely raises the bar in terms of miniature golf, plus you get an interesting history lesson about Black Beard, incrementally with each hole you play on the course. After this, we walked part of the trail at the Hot Springs National Park. We had a great time, even in the 100 deg heat and what felt like 65% humidity!

It was fantastic to sit inside an air conditioned auditorium after our Hot Springs visit to hear our two oldest sons, along with the rest of the band, play some great music.

Began the second half of the 15th round of chemo last night. The Temodar began in March of 2004!

We have been participants for the past two years in an event known as Light the Night, a nationwide walk to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This year, I am excited to also be involved in the 1st annual Angel Adventure 5k, benefiting the National Brain Tumor Foundation (NBTF), in Trinity Park in Ft. Worth on 04 November 2006. In fact, I have created a “team” for this event I invite you to join us as a team member and/or a contributor by visiting www.firstgiving.com/jerrykline

Our nation's birthday, and we enjoyed the fireworks at Fout’s Field at the University of North Texas in Denton. Today is also a b'day day for me of sorts as well: today makes 29 months since surgery. July 4th is David M Bailey’s 10 year anniversary of his gbm removal. Like Doug Cooper, this self-described "hippie folk singer" is also an incredible guy. But do not take my word for it; you can see and hear for yourself via his website and cdbaby.com.

My family met three year survivor Doug Cooper and family today at our home. Doug is a remarkable guy with a multitude of musical talents, including piano, song writing, singing and trombone. Doug and Andrew serenaded us on their bones.
